The
Country View program at Golden Pond is for people with various
forms of mild cognitive impairment. We provide all of the
care and services we already offer for our regular assisted
living coupled with many enhancements geared specifically
to those with diminished cognitive abilities. The unit is
located on the third floor of our building with secured
doors to prevent wandering and give residents a secure feeling
that comes from being in a smaller, less imposing environment.
We recognize that these individuals have many important
physical and emotional needs. We have set up our unit to
provide for and meet several critical needs such as: safety,
optimal stimulation, visual cues, options for privacy or
social interaction and a homelike environment.
We offer a lower resident to staff ratio because we recognize
these particular individuals will thrive with more individual
attention and more supervision. The additional advantage
to being in a smaller, more intimate setting, with less
rotation of staff and nursing oversight, is that it allows
us to better observe changes in behavior, appetite, orientation
and mood with regards to new medicine and any possible side
effects.
